TEPS: Test of English Proficiency (South Korea)

The Test of English Proficiency or TEPS, created and managed by the Seoul National University’s language Education Institute, is an English proficiency test to assess South Korean applicants English language skills. TEPS is conducted all over the country since January 1999. Also test is offered in some International locations such as China, Vietnam, or Mongolia.

Usage of TEPS

TEPS scores are used for admissions in many of the Educational Institutions in South Korea. Also, it is used for work-related purposes as well.

Structure of TEPS

The TEPS comprises of 4 parts- Listening Comprehension, Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension, and Grammar.

Listening Comprehension
Part 1: Listen to a question or statement and choose the most appropriate response
(Each question/statement and option will be read only once.)
Number of Items: 10
Part 2: Listen to a short conversation fragment and choose the most appropriate response
(Each conversation fragment and option will be read only once.)
Number of Items: 10
Part 3: Listen to a conversation and choose the option that best answers the question
(Each conversation, question and option will be read only once.)
Number of Items: 10
Part 4: Listen to a monologue and choose the option that best answers the question
(1 question per passage. Each passage and its corresponding question will be read twice. Options will be read only once.)
Number of Items: 6
Part 5: Listen to a monologue and choose the option that best answers the question
(2 questions per passage. Each passage and its corresponding questions will be read twice. Options will be read only once.)
Number of Items: 4
Testing Time: 40 minutes
Points: 0-240

Vocabulary
Part 1: Choose the word or expression most appropriate for the blank in a conversation

Grammar
