Steps to follow:
Find out your Interest Area
Know your interest. Find the answer to questions like- what you want to do? Why you want to pursue this? You career goals? and so on.
Research
Once you figure out what you want to pursue, start researching on the same. Research about the program and Universities offering that program. Check the official website of the Universities and Colleges and know about their profile, admission requirements-general and specific, dates and deadlines, facilities and other necessary details. Make a list of the Universities and Colleges offering program that you would want to take on.
Campus Visits
Visit the campus of respective Universities and Colleges. Talk to the professors and current students out there and know about the University and its programmes and other relevant things. Ask questions if any. Experience yourself what it might be like to study there.
Apply
After you have researched about the Universities and programs, make the final decision. Apply on time. Know about the
admission requirements and procedure before applying.
General Admission Requirements
For Bachelor Degree Program
The applicant should be a high school graduate or has achieved an equivalent education. At least 12 years of education must be finished by the applicant for admittance to Bachelor degree program.
For Master Degree Program
The applicant should hold a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent to gain admittance to a Master degree program
For Doctoral Program
The applicant should hold a Master’s degree or its equivalent to gain admittance to Doctoral/PhD program.
Entrance Examination
College Scholastic Ability Tests-CSAT
CSAT is a standardized test used by the Universities and Colleges in South Korea for admissions.
Language Proficiency Tests
Applicants are required to prove their Korean as well as English language proficiency in order to gain admittance to Universities and Colleges in South Korea.
Korean Language Proficiency
Test of Proficiency in Korea, or TOPIK: TOPIK assess the Korean language skills and is used for admission to Educational Institutions and for job seeking purposes in South Korea.
English Language Proficiency
If the medium of instruction is English, then the TOEFL iBT and IELTS scores are accepted. TOEFL iBT accepted score is 79 to 80 or IELTS accepted score is 6.0 or more
Test of English as a Foreign Language: TOEFL tests proficiency in English language in academic settings.
International English Language Testing System:
IELTS tests the proficiency in English language of non-native speakers.
Test of English Proficiency:
TEPS is an English proficiency test established by Seoul National University's Language Education Institute to assess South Korean applicants English language knowledge and skills
Dates and Deadlines
The application deadline for March admissions, i.e. spring semester generally starts from September and continues until November, and for September admissions, i.e. fall semester the application process starts from May and goes on until June. The dates and deadlines vary depending on the Educational Institution, so contact the respective institution to know about the dates and deadlines for applications.
Apply for Scholarships and Visa
If you’re accepted by the University/College in South Korea, an Enrollment/Acceptance letter would be issued to you by the Institution. Once you receive the acceptance letter, apply for
Student Visa depending upon your stay in South Korea. Many of the Korean government ministries, several foundations and institutions provide
scholarship programs for international students. Apply for those scholarships before deadline with all the necessary documentation.
